Children's Book
ABC's of various Topics
     Students will explore narrative writing by working together as a group and composing a children's ABC book.  The group will choose a general category and then brainstorm items that fit within that category.  They must use each letter of the alphabet.  They may need to get creative in order to accomplish each letter.  Besides working cooperatively and writing the book, the students will be required to illustrate the book through drawings or tracings of free clip art. 

     An example of this project would be a trip to the zoo to see the different animals.  Using a different animal for each letter, the book will lead young readers through a description of the animal and what they learned when they met them.  Students will produce their book and for a final grade they will give their book to either the kindergarten or first grade class.

     At the end of the second quarter, you will be able to see the book that your student helped create.  If you have any comments for the students, you can contact me and I will relay the comments to the class.
